Clark School Professor Alison Flatau, aerospace engineering, and Institute for Systems Research (ISR) Professor Dana Nau, computer science, have been awarded research grants from the U.S. Department of Defense under the Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI).

Flatau's award is for research on magnetic and mechanical energy in alloys called magnetostrictive materials. Nau's grant was awarded for research on techniques for behavior modeling of adversaries, in collaboration with Institute for ISR-affiliated Professor V.S. Subrahmanian.

The MURI awards provide long-term support for research, graduate students and laboratory instrumentation development in specific science and engineering research themes vital to national defense.
