What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
I decided to come to UMD due to the size, opportunities and community. I hoped to have a school that was large enough that I would be able to find the people, resources, and clubs that I wanted. While the school is big, it is extremely easy to find where you belong and make the large campus feel close-knit. I also came to UMD for its vast opportunities. Specifically, I plan to take advantage of the Clark in Madrid study abroad program! Lastly, I came to UMD because I truly felt like I could find a community here that would fit my wants and needs. There is so much terrapin pride that makes this campus feel like a home. I love going to basketball games, performing with my acappella group, and studying on McKeldin Mall with my friends.
Best Experience with a Class or Project
My best experience with a project was my ENES100 project. I came to UMD as an Engineering Undecided major and I was conflicted between a few majors.
Through this class, I was able to work with a team to complete a common goal and through this I learned machine learning and hands-on coding. I realized through this class that I wanted to be a Computer Engineer. In this class, not only did I find my major, but I found some of my closest friends, one of whom is now my suite-mate.

Favorite Research or Study Abroad Experiences
I am currently planning to study abroad in the Spring 2026 and I cannot wait! I am excited to be studying in Madrid alongside my engineering peers.
Cool Engineering Experience
A cool engineering experience was when I worked in a chemical research lab to create a device that would determine where harmful chemicals were and remove them so they were no longer a threat. This was my first experience with mentorship and it was what made me realize I wanted to go into engineering. I was learning from professionals and was contributing my own ideas to something that would have a real impact on the world.
