Give to the Clark School

Philanthropic support provides crucial financial resources to students in need and creates a positive impact by advancing the frontiers of science, developing the next generation of engineers, and collaboratively developing solutions to our global grand challenges.

Join us in bringing the Clark School to even greater heights by supporting an element of our school that you feel passionate about:

  • Stanley R. Zupnik Hall will accelerate our ability to graduate more engineers equipped to lead the nation and the world to a safer, more secure and sustainable future.

  • Endowed chairs, professorships, and fellowships help advance scholarship in and bolster the importance of engineering, ultimately helping us recruit and retain the best educators.

  • Support for students, which can come in the form of scholarships and graduate fellowships, donations for student teams and activities, or living–learning communities are fundamental to all of our graduates.

Terps Cement Legacy

Robert E. Toense ’76, inspired by early experiences at NIST with his father and uncle—both UMD electrical engineering graduates—pursued a distinguished career in electronics engineering at the Naval Surface Warfare Center and NIST. His work contributed to foundational technologies in wireless LANs and videoconferencing. In retirement, Toense and his wife, Diana Locke, established the Robert E. Toense Family Endowed Student Support Fund and the Robert E. Toense Current-Use ALEx Garage Student Support Fund, aiming to enhance hands-on learning for Clark School students. Their philanthropy enables undergraduates to engage in innovative projects, fostering practical engineering solutions.
