CMSE HOME

Event Overview

The Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering (CMSE) at the University of Maryland, College Park, is excited to host the 2026 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Expo on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the University of Maryland. We aim to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders by connecting them to resources, mentors, and hands-on experiences that make STEM accessible, exciting, and empowering. In addition, we hope to motivate students to pursue a college degree in a STEM field. This event is made possible through our partnership with PGCode, Virtuous Boss, LEEP to College Foundation, and Terrapin Works - Baltimore.

Participants will explore STEM through interactive workshops, engaging demonstrations, and hands-on activities that encourage exploration and inquiry. Highlights include:

  • Guided by the theme of AI+U: Smart Tools, Smarter Kids, students will have the opportunity to explore the different fields of STEM by participating in a free day of exciting hands-on activities, projects, workshops, educational seminars, and demonstrations.
  • A STEM Fair featuring community organizations, University of Maryland departments, and corporate sponsor representatives providing valuable resources and pathways for students and families.
  • Parents will gain more exposure to STEM through presentations and hands-on activities so they can best support their student's interest in STEM.
