Alice Sesay Pope | Co-Chair

Alice Sesay-Pope is the Vice President of Global Operations & Customer Experience at Amazon. At the University of Maryland, she graduated with her bachelor's in Chemical Engineering '95. During her time here, she navigated challenges of underrepresentation and systemic barriers, yet found invaluable support at the Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering. This foundational experience shaped her professional life, imbuing her with a commitment to support and advocate for the center, empowering future engineers.

Lyndon Brown | Co-Chair

Lyndon is a technology executive specializing in high-growth enterprise SAAS companies. He is currently the co-founder and CEO of Stealth Startup, a VC-backed startup. With a background in cybersecurity, he has held senior roles at Pondurance, FireEye Mandiant, Endgame, and Verodin. Lyndon is a board member at the University of Maryland's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and an advocate for STEM education. He spent a decade as a Computer Engineer in the U.S. Intelligence Community, holds degrees in Electrical Engineering '04 from UMD and Systems Engineering '07 from Johns Hopkins University.

Greg Joyner | A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of MarylandGreg Joyner | Board Member

Greg Joyner, Vice President of Strategy and Operations at ASTRION, brings over 27 years of experience from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he played a pivotal role in modernizing the en-route and Terminal Automation systems for the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). Greg holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering '78 from UMD. His international experience includes serving as the senior FAA representative to Mediterranean Europe, the Balkans, and the Middle East, based at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, Italy. Greg has also represented the U.S. at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), serving on key panels and groups such as the All-Weather Operations Panel, the Testing of Radio Navigation Aids Study Group, and as the program manager of the Aeronautical Surveillance Panel (ASP) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

EngineerGirl - Viviana Monje-GalvanViviana Monje-Galvan | Board Member

Viviana Monje-Galvan is a computational biophysicist specializing in modeling the behavior of biological molecules, with a focus on realistic cell membrane modeling and the identification of molecular mechanisms of disease. As a Latina female faculty member, she is dedicated to encouraging minority participation in STEM, particularly in computational biophysics research. Viviana collaborates closely with research groups overseas to promote biophysical research and motivate underrepresented students to engage in computational research. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a BS in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, both from the University of Maryland-College Park, awarded in 2017 and 2012, respectively.

Michelle earned a Masters and Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland.

Edwin Surpin, a seasoned Senior Systems Engineer with over 23 years of experience in the engineering solutions industry, earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park in 1997. Prior to his role at 2HB Incorporated, Edwin served as a Senior Systems Engineer at Sollertis Inc. and as President at Capstone Investment Group. His expertise extends beyond systems engineering to include commercial real estate, asset management, and risk management, honed during his tenure at Capstone Investment Group. With strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills, Edwin is committed to providing engineering consultancy and supporting system engineering efforts to achieve organizational objectives through effective planning and scheduling of development activities.

Shane WarrenShane Warren | Board Member

Shane Warren, President and CEO of WarrenBuilds, boasts over 31 years of industry leadership and management experience. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1996, Mr. Warren has been acknowledged as a regional leader in both the construction industry and business community. His accomplishments include receiving the prestigious "Contractor of the Year" award from the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation. Under his guidance, WarrenBuilds has evolved from a successful minority-owned small business to a widely respected general construction firm, known for its excellence in completing numerous commercial, governmental, and residential projects throughout the Washington, DC, metro area over the past quarter-century.

Hallie Williams brings over 18 years of extensive experience in leading strategic initiatives and managing projects, portfolios, and products across diverse sectors including financial services, consumer products, and government. With a strong background at Fannie Mae, where he has held various roles, Hallie has also contributed his expertise as a product manager at American Express and a product consultant at MicroStrategy. Beyond his professional endeavors, Hallie is deeply engaged in community advocacy, actively participating in initiatives such as the National CASA Association and the First Tee of Washington D.C. His dedication to community service has been recognized through appointments to advisory committees by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. Hallie holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park, earned in 1995.

Dr. Kailyn Cage is a distinguished individual with a remarkable track record of achievements across various fields. She has been recognized with prestigious awards including the NSF BD Fellowship, Homeland Security Fellowship, and more. Dr. Cage's expertise spans multiple domains, evident from her U.S. Patents for innovative technologies and a U.S. copyright in Data-Driven Personas with Health Information Technology Design Requirement. In addition to her academic and research accomplishments, she is deeply committed to community service, volunteering as a Robot Design Judge for FIRST, an Education Volunteer for CityTeam, and contributing to the University of Maryland's CMSE office to host the Bi-Annual STEM Expo. Dr. Cage holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (2017) and a B.S. in Physical Science and Mechanical Engineering (2011) from the University of Maryland.
