Program Overview 

The 17th Annual Winter Student Leadership Retreat (WSLR) will be held January 21-22, 2023 and it will be an in-person event.  The purpose of the retreat is to provide an opportunity for underrepresented minority (URM) students majoring in engineering and computer science to build their career, professional, and leadership skills; as well as to network with corporations and student leaders from 4-year colleges/universities and 2-year community colleges in the Washington-Baltimore-Annapolis area.

Workshops to be presented include: career development (interview tips, mock interviews), leadership development, professional development, personal development,  and a corporate information fair.

Students who attend the following colleges and universities and who are majoring in engineering, computer science, physics, and information science are eligible to apply to participate in the retreat.  The program is open to undergraduate students only.

Approximately 3-5 students from each college or university listed above will be selected to participate in the retreat.  All participants will have to complete the on-line application and 60 students will be selected through an application review process.  The application is open and the application will be available until November 23, 2023.  Persons who are selected to participate will be notified no later than the second week of December.

There is no cost to students who are selected to participate. The retreat will be held Saturday, January 21 beginning at 8 am through Sunday, January 22, ending at 5:00 pm.  Overnight accommodations (single rooms) will be provided along with all meals and transportation to the event for those who have need of transporation.

Registration Deadline:  November 23 2022

Notification Date:  No later than December 11, 2020
