LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship Program

Under the auspices of the University System of Maryland and the National Science Foundation, the LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship is a highly competitive program designed to encourage and support UMD graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. More information, the program specifically seeks to support graduate students who graduated from an LSAMP undergraduate institution and participated in an LSAMP program during their articulation.

The LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship Program is currently unavailable. Please revisit us again in the 2022 - 2023 academic year.

More about LSAMP

  • Student stipends, up to $32,000 annually.
  • Tuition and fee supplement, up to $12,000 annually.
  • Faculty mentoring and advising.
  • Links to research and internship opportunities.
  • Opportunities to participate in national and professional conferences.
  • Enriched academic services and support.
  • Must be admitted to a University of Maryland College Park Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) M.S. or Ph.D. program for Fall.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Provide evidence of participation in LSAMP programs from the LSAMP Director or designee at an undergraduate institution.

LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate Accomplishments

Kiante Brantley

Kiante Brantley will join 68 other graduate students nationwide in receiving a Computer Innovation (CI) Fellows award-a two-year paid postdoctoral computing position.

The program is a prestigious postdoctoral research program managed by the Computing Research Association and supported by the National Science Foundation.

Shadaesha Green

Shadaesha Green was named a finalist of the John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship program. The program is sponsored by Sea Grant and NOAA. She is a UMD Center for Environmental Science graduate student, and she will join the fellowship in the 42nd class.

Leopoldo Torres Jr

Leopoldo Torres Jr attended UMD during 2014-2019. He studied Bioengineering and earned his Ph.D. Not only was he in the LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship Program, but he was also a National Science Foundation GRFP Fellow and a GEM Associate Fellow.
