CMSE HOME

Event Overview

The Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering (CMSE) and the Civil and The Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department at the University of Maryland, College Park, is excited to host the 2025 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Expo on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the University of Maryland. We aim to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders by connecting them to resources, mentors, and hands-on experiences that make STEM accessible, exciting, and empowering. In addition, we hope to motivate students to pursue a college degree in a STEM field. This event is made possible through our partnership with PGCode and support from industry leaders like Boeing.

Participants will explore STEM through interactive workshops, engaging demonstrations, and hands-on activities that encourage exploration and inquiry. Highlights include:
• A hackathon sponsored by PGCode, offering students a unique opportunity to design and innovate alongside peers and mentors. Expo attendees can sign up for this exciting challenge and gain real-world experience in teamwork and problem-solving.
• A STEM Fair featuring community organizations, University of Maryland departments, and financial industry representatives providing valuable resources and pathways for students and families.
• Parent Workshops covering critical themes such as "What is STEM?", pathways to STEM careers, and financial literacy for navigating college expenses.
