Our First Stop? The Technical University of Denmark!

A Global Leader in Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Sharing

The Technical University of Denmark is a global leader in research, innovation, and knowledge sharing - particularly in the areas of design, wind energy, biotechnology, electronics, and telecommunication. Their campus goal of providing a link between academia and industry has led to them building 350 partnership agreements with companies along with striving to build their international community. About a fifth of DTU’s faculty members are recruited from outside of Denmark, and about a third of the students are international.

Why we love it? The Scandinavian way of learning: a chance for students and teachers to work more informally than at other European universities. Learning is very collaborative, with a focus on active participation and working together individually and in groups. Along with the technical knowledge gained, students are encouraged to ask questions, be innovative, and explore interrelationships.

Don’t take our word for it! Hear from a study abroad alum who spent a semester at DTU and why he’d recommend the experience to others in the Clark School as well:

Take advantage of over 350 DTU courses that have been evaluated for credit at UMD, or explore additional options through the university’s course catalog, the DTU Course Base. Students typically take 3-4 classes in person and ENGL393 through UMD for a total of 12-15 credits. Since DTU is a technical university, GenEd courses are typically not available.

We recommend these majors to study at DTU since they are a great academic fit - click the links below to explore possible class options in the database:
