When seeing the options I had before deciding on a university to attend, I realize that UMD had everything I wanted in an institution and more. Having the opportunity to attend a world-class engineering program that was not only highly ranked for my major but also in the same county in where I from was an offer I could not pass up. Additionally, the diversity and culture that people from all walks of life bring to the Clark School and campus in general made me eager to step into the next chapter of my life at Maryland. 

 

When I took Thermodynamics, I got the opportunity to visit one of the labs in the Kim Engineering Building and see how the concepts we learned in class apply to the real world through analyzing a torn apart ac unit. Because of the heavy real-world application use, the class inspired me to hopefully work with thermal management in extreme atmospheres in the space industry.

Currently, I am a member of the Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, FLAME: Foundational Learning and Mentorship Experience, and the Balloon Payload Program. I am also an alumnus of the College Park Scholars: Public Leadership LLP. 

 

I always look forward to Art Attack every year. As someone that avidly listens to r&b and hip-hop, it's exciting to see some of the best artists come every year to perform. 

 

I really hope to study abroad either this winter or next winter. I love to travel with my family, so having the opportunity to travel with my friends over break to somewhere like Italy or Rwanda would be awesome. Regarding research experiences, I worked on a solar-powered helicopter project, GAMERA-S, under the Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Center throughout my sophomore year. Although I have decided to lean towards the space track in my major, it was a great experience to learn more about rotorcraft in all aspects. 

 

I really enjoyed working on my ENES100 project—where I worked on an over terrain vehicle that was tasked with identifying a red ball through its object material and weight and maneuvering through an obstacle course. I was tasked with working on the structural aspect of the vehicle—through CAD and 3D Printing.
