The Department of Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland (UMD) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) will hold the second UMD/NFPA Fire & Life Safety Ecosystem Symposium on September 24-25, 2024. The basic concept of the Symposium is to bring together researchers and practitioners on selected topics of interest in fire safety. The three selected topics are:
- Fire hazards in renewable energy systems;
- Residential fire challenges;
- Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) fires.
For each selected topic, the Symposium program will include a succession of panel and group discussions, and more specifically: a plenary session to introduce the topic and the panel, followed by breakout sessions to allow for group discussions, and a final plenary session to allow for concluding remarks by the panelists and additional Q&A.
For more information, please contact Professor Emeritus Jim Milke (Symposium co-host, milke@umd.edu) or Adjunct Professor Bob Andrews (Symposium Chair, rca@umd.edu).
