Major:  Mechanical Engineering
Hometown: Rockville, MD
High School:  Rockville High School

What inspired you to become a ClarkLEADER?
I want to work in the engineering community and put myself out there. I want to learn about different types and have that develop my passion further. I want to listen and learn about experiences in the field in order to cater and find out what I truly want to do.

If you attended ClarkLEAD as a first-year student, what did you enjoy most about the event?
I enjoyed meeting fellow engineers.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering students?
Working hard is key for each and every student at UMD. I feel that STEM majors are especially harder. Going from high school to university was a big challenge and you have to work extremely hard in order to succeed.

What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you are involved with on campus?
I am a part of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Somali Student Association (SSA), and I want to join the Muslim Student Association (MSA) this upcoming semester. I am also a part of the James A. Clark Scholars Program.

What is a cool engineering experience you've had?
My favorite engineering experience I've had was ENES 100. It is a class you take as a freshman but it is extremely hands on, and that is the part I love about engineering.
