What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
I decided to attend UMD because of the amazing engineering opportunities offered and the short distance from home. Ever since middle school, I enjoyed student competitions. UMD offers a wide range of engineering competitions like Terps Racing, which gives a great opportunity to get hands-on experience.
Best Experience with a Class or Project
My best experience with a class is ENES100. I had a lot of fun designing, building, and testing for the OTV project. With our hard work and focus, we were able to the Sustainability Award! My teammates were very nice and I am still good friends with some of them to this day.
Favorite Class In Major
ENES100
Favorite Class Out of Major
GEMS100
Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities
Terps Racing EV, Gemstone Honors Program (CONNECT Mentor), IM Basketball
Favorite On-Campus Event
My favorite on-campus event is Maryland Day. I enjoy seeing the astonishing things people do around campus.
Favorite Research or Study Abroad Experiences
As a member of the Gemstone Honors Program, my team is currently doing research on improving hearing aids in crowded environments. The research is still ongoing, but I love all the people on my team.
Cool Engineering Experience
As a High Voltage Lead of Terps Racing EV, I had the opportunity to attend an EV workshop hosted by Tesla in Fremont, California. Terps Racing is part of an international competition where students design, build and test an F1-style car. SAE hosts that competition in North America. The workshop provided so much information on how to design the electrical systems for an EV. It was also an amazing networking event with Tesla and many students from the US, Canada, and Mexico.
