Dr. Jarred Callura is a faculty member in the Biocomputational Engineering (BCE) program. His expertise lies in synthetic biology, genome editing/engineering, and bioinformatics. Before joining UMD, he worked two years as a xenotransplantation scientist at United Therapeutics, five years as a project manager in the Animal Sciences Division of Intrexon (now Precigen), and a year at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He completed his B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering at Duke University and his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University.
