Angel P. Bezos ’69 and Rayssa O. Bezos
Angel P. Bezos was born in Cuba in 1945, emigrated to the United States in July of 1962, graduated from Salesianum High School in Wilmington Delaware in 1963, and then graduated from the University of Maryland in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. While attending the University of Maryland, Mr. Bezos co-founded Pulse Electronics, Inc., with fellow alumnus Emilio A. Fernandez. Pulse’s business and mission was to conceive, design, develop and market innovative products for the Railroad Industry. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Angel and Emilio developed Pulse’s first product, a magnetic tape locomotive crash recorder, a development that took approximately 5 years. As Sr. VP in charge of Engineering at Pulse, Mr. Bezos was responsible for the design and development of Pulse’s products, which included locomotive crash recorders, Speed Indicators and End of Train data transceivers. Mr. Bezos is the inventor of over 30 patents, and in 1994 had the honor of being inducted in the University of Maryland Engineering Innovation Hall of Fame. Mr. Bezos is currently retired, although he still occasionally engages in product development, just for fun. Mr. Bezos lives in Florida with his wife of 51 years, Rayssa, and they are blessed with three children and nine grandchildren.
