Employer Details

Engineering Career Services host a Chemical, Materials, and Bioengineering career fair each fall and spring.  We host 25-30 employers and see an average of 150 to 200 students at these fairs.  Employers will have the opportunity to meet with undergraduate and graduate students, all of whom are seeking either internships or full-time employment.

In addition to chemical, materials, and bioengineering students, students from other engineering departments may be invited if you indicate your preferences on our registration form.

If you are interested in other recruiting opportunities, such as posting open positions, information sessions, campus interviews, or our Recruiters in Residence program, please contact the A. James Clark School of Engineering Career Services at (301) 405-3863 or CareerEngr@umd.edu.

Although we prefer not to charge for this event so that small companies can more easily attend, we ask for a $100 fee to help cover the cost of parking, tables/chairs, signage, and a sandwich dinner. Once you submit this form, you will be taken to a web page with payment options and the ability to print an invoice. If you cannot attend as a result of this fee, please register anyway and email us to discuss waiving the fee.

If you would like return shipping arranged, please bring return labels and shipping tape on the day of the event.  We are able to process return shipping for Career Fair packages.  Please allow 5 business days for packages to be processed.

• You can use GPS for both the Kim Engineering Building (8228 Paint Branch Drive) and Xfinity Center Visitor's Lot (8468 Paint Branch Drive).   A campus map can be found here.
• Parking will be in the Xfinity Center Visitor's Lot.  If you are bringing boxes or displays, please use Engineering Drive between the Kim Building and Clark Hall to unload before you park.
• If you arrive on time, there will be an attendant at either one of the two entrances of the lot on Paint Branch Drive. They will give you a hanging permit and tell you where to park.  Please do not park without getting the hanging permit since our office is no longer able to void parking tickets.
• If you arrive late or cannot find an attendant, please call Ron at (443) 534-0731 to get a parking code.
• From the parking lot, exit right onto Paint Branch Drive and continue along that road until you reach the Kim Engineering Building on your right (5-10 min walk).

Xfinity Visitor Lot to Kim Engineering Building

If you are bringing supplies the day of the Career Fair, please use Engineering Drive between the Kim Building and Clark Hall to unload for either building.  Because this is a side street, early arrival is suggested to avoid congestion.  Please plan on a maximum of 10 minutes for unloading.  We suggest having two people when unloading supplies so that one can stay with your items while the other parks the car.

In the event of inclement weather, our office will follow the University of Maryland’s emergency procedures. Please check the following sources for updates beginning at 5:30 a.m.

  • University of Maryland home page (www.umd.edu)
  • Phone: 301.405.7669 (301.405.SNOW)
  • Twitter: @UofMaryland
  • Local radio stations: WTOP (103.5 FM) or WNEW (99.1 FM)

Campus Closure: If the University of Maryland is closed due to inclement weather, then all events, including information sessions and on campus interviews, will be cancelled. We will be in touch with you via e-mail to discuss the next steps. In the rare event of a campus closing, we will be happy to arrange an alternate date or plan for your interviewing needs.

Weather Delay: If the University announces a delayed opening, interview and events schedules will be adjusted as needed. Recruiters should communicate travel problems to the Engineering Career Services Office as soon as possible so that we may share updates with students.

Early Closure: If the university announces an early closure due to deteriorating weather conditions, all evening events will be cancelled. We will work with you to re-schedule for the next available date.

The Engineering Career Services Office recommends the following hotels which are adjacent to the University of Maryland campus:
