UMD Students admitted into programs at the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland (USMSM) are not required to pay the UMD standard mandatory fees in the fall and spring terms. Students at USMSM have access to the following College Park resources at no additional cost:

Yes, as a graduate of the Clark School, your degree will be issued by the University of Maryland - College Park. Southern Maryland students are encouraged to attend graduation ceremonies in College Park.
No, MTAP does not guarantee admission to the University of Maryland.
The Maryland Transfer Advantage Program (MTAP) provides a pathway for students at participating community colleges to transfer to the University of Maryland. In order to be granted admission through MTAP, students must:
- Meet MTAP eligibility requirements and successfully complete the program
- Meet eligibility requirements for admission into the University of Maryland
- Meet eligibility requirements for consideration into the Clark School
The Clark School does not currently offer an Aerospace Engineering academic program in Southern Maryland. However, the Mechanical Engineering program at Southern Maryland is designed with a strong aviation influence. Students interested in this area of study and who would like to attend classes in Southern Maryland are encouraged to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering and take elective courses that focus on aviation.
Students must submit all college credits earned when applying to transfer to the University of Maryland, including AP scores. All AP courses will be evaluated for coursework that may qualify for transfer to UMD.
Transfer credit earned via AP scores will transfer towards both degree requirements and our gateway admission requirements as long as students earn the minimum scores. However, AP credits cannot be used toward the transfer requirement of a minimum of 12 college credits.
No, students can transfer to the Clark School at USMSM in Southern Maryland from any accredited community college or 4-year institution.
Southern Maryland students are not required to participate in civilian career opportunities with NAWCAD. Students are encouraged to explore internship and career opportunities with any of the defense organizations and private Engineering companies in Southern Maryland.
