What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
I wanted to become a ClarkLEADER to give back to the engineering community by helping new students feel included in the diverse space of Maryland Engineers. When I was a first-year student, ClarkLEAD allowed me to meet other students and also connect with my upperclassman mentor for the evening!
What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Engineering World Health is a great organization that lets you practice skills such as CAD and prototyping for projects that benefit people around the world. Another organization I am a part of is Hearts for Homeless, where students go to local homeless shelters and conduct blood pressure screenings to help the surrounding community.
If you attended ClarkLEAD as a first-year student, what did you enjoy most about the event?
My favorite part about ClarkLEAD as a first-year student was talking with my ClarkLEADER about her experiences in the engineering school as well as talking with other students across different disciplines of engineering before classes began.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering students?
Engineering can seem like a lot, especially as you are getting used to your classes and college life in general. Don't be afraid to reach out to people in your classes because everyone is in the same boat as you!
