Fall 2003 Whiting-Turner Business and Entrepreneurial Lecture Series features Chief Rainmaker for OneRain, Inc.

On Thursday, October 9, at 5:00 p.m. in Room 1202-Glenn L. Martin Hall, Dr. David C. Curtis of OneRain, Inc. will be the first speaker for the Fall Series of the Whiting-Turner Lecture Series. His topic, “Prepare your Plan – Then Get Prepared to Change It,” reflects the theme for the year's lectures, “Making the Most of Change and Opportunity.”

Curtis, chief rainmaker of his own consulting company, OneRain Inc., specializes in providing high quality rainfall data for high value applications using state-of-the-art rainfall monitoring, processing and delivery systems. He is an internationally recognized expert on hydrology and the author of more than seventy technical articles and reports. His career has taken him from government employment to two entrepreneurial ventures and into fields that did not exist when he first began his engineering studies. Curtis received his master’s at Maryland in civil engineering in 1975.

For nine years, the Whiting-Turner Contracting Company has sponsored a Business and Entrepreneurial Lecture Series to provide our academic community with a real-life perspective on the issues that are critical to success in business today. The next lecturer, Philip Wiser, chief technology office and senior vice president of Digital Services for Sony Music Entertainment, will speak about "Facing the Music: An Inside Look at the Dramatic Changes Facing the Global Music Industry," on Thursday, November 6, 2003.
