What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
I wanted to enhance my communication and leadership skills and saw becoming a ClarkLEADER as a great opportunity. I enjoyed my time as an incoming engineering student participating in the ClarkLEAD event and found it inspiring and motivating. This made me want to participate as a ClarkLEADER.
What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Wind TERPines is a new multidisciplinary club on campus that is competing in the Department of Energy Collegiate Wind Competition. We're looking for members to help us through the next phases of the competition! Great for meeting new people, applying/learning technical skills, building your resume, and meeting wind energy professionals.
If you attended ClarkLEAD as a first-year student, what did you enjoy most about the event?
I enjoyed the guest speakers. They spoke about important topics and we're really inspiring to hear.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering students?
Be open to the multitudes of opportunities you will find at UMD. Meet as many people as you can, try new things, and join clubs! This will help you grow relationships with your peers and learn more about yourself.
