Aldrin Martin

Class of 2027
Major: Aerospace Engineering

What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
What motivated me to become a ClarkLEADER was the skills and experience I can gain from this distinguished position like leadership, communication, and diversity. Improving my leadership to help others succeed in their future as Clark School engineers is a valuable experience, especially coming from a student who used the advice given during my time as a freshman during the ClarkLEAD event.

What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Students should step out of their comfort, like I did. That way you can make not only connections but future friends. For me, I think culture clubs and academic societies were a great way to do so.

If you attended ClarkLEAD as a first-year student, what did you enjoy most about the event?
I enjoyed being able to make new friends at such a large university. Being in the same major department made it even more helpful because I got to see them throughout the semester.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering students?
One piece of advice I would like to share is proficiency in your study skills/resources. One of the biggest aspects of college I had trouble adjusting to was studying more efficiently for exams. I learned to plan my time through calendars and utilized online resources such as YouTube videos to help me succeed. Everyone is different, meaning traditional study methods may not work for you. Find a groove or method that works best for you.
