LeGette receives Ernst & Young Award
On June 19th at the 2002 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Banquet, Ron Wilson and Brian LeGette, co CEO's, Big Bang Products of Baltimore, Maryland, were presented with CONSUMER PRODUCTS AWARD for Maryland. There were a total of 28 different companies across 8 award categories competing for this regional award.
Each year Ernst & Young, through its Entrepreneur Of The Year® awards, seeks to recognize great business achievements around the world. Such accomplishments are made possible by the entrepreneurial spirit - the incredible depth and character that entrepreneurs possess as they develop new technologies, create faster ways to distribute goods and services, and improve the quality of life for people around them.
Seven years ago, Ron and Brian, had an idea to build a better ear warmer. After all, how can you wear a hat and attach earmuffs at the same time? The 180 degree earmuff is constructed with a frame that wraps around the back of your head, providing a reasonably snug fit. They also have special pockets to fill such items as Big Bang's optional stereo headphones for use with CD, MP3, and cassette players.
Ron and Brian launched several other innovative products including the self-opening beach towel with a built-in air pillow and a radio-controlled glider for kids.
Brian graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1989. He earned his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1995. The University of Maryland Alumni Association presented its Outstanding Young Alumni Award to Brian in 1989.
