Dr. Michael Brundage is a mechanical and industrial engineer in the Acquisition and Industrial Security core mission area at ARLIS. Dr. Brundage is interested in both the technical and management aspects of supply chain research. He conducts human systems integration research focused on adapting state-of-the-art tools to supply chain domain problems to augment abilities of decision-makers and address industry stakeholders’ needs.

Previously, Dr. Brundage was an industrial engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Dr. Brundage led the Knowledge Extraction and Application for Manufacturing Operations project and was the Program Manager for the Model-Based Enterprise program at NIST. He has authored over 55 peer-reviewed publications in the field of smart manufacturing and has founded a Technical Language Processing Community of Interest (TLP-COI)  for adapting Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools to technical text data.  He won the 2021 Department of Commerce Bronze Medal for his work in creating an open-source TLP tool for industry use. Dr. Brundage was a 2019-2020 ASME Early Career Leadership Intern Program to Serve Engineering (ECLIPSE) intern and is the recipient of the 2018 ASME Old Guard Early Career Award. Dr. Brundage was selected as one of the SME’s 2021 Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award recipients and the 2018 Class of 30 Under 30.
