What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
I wanted to become a ClarkLEADER to help incoming engineering students adjust to the large campus and campus life. I also wanted to inform them of how many opportunities they have to explore different fields and expose them to my own experience with the engineering school. Being an engineering student means having to find a good school/life balance that can be tricky for a first year, and it’s helpful to get the perspective of people who have gone through it first.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering Students?
Really branch out in your classes and get to know opportunities that are inside and outside of your major/engineering discipline. You never know where life will lead you. You will always gain something if you are just willing to put yourself out there and try your best.
What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Theta Tau (Co-ed Professional Engineering Fraternity), UMD Bio-E Research Labs, Keystone office hours, Women in Engineering, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, Engineers Without Borders, and intramural sports.
