Pratim Raiker
Class of 2026
Major: Fire Protection Engineering
Hometown: Ellicott City, Maryland

What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
I had a great experience when I was transitioning from community college to UMD and I waned to be apart of the team that made it happen!
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering Students?
Show up to all classes. Showing up can make all the difference in getting tips for exams, asking questions, and connecting with peers. Getting through difficult classes can become easy with a good study group.
What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) clubs within your major can be a great way to make friends.
If you attended ClarkLEAD as a first-year student, what did you enjoy most about the event?
I enjoyed getting to meet my peers in the same major who were transferring. It got us a chance to connect before the first day. Going into our major breakouts and talk with department leaders was a cool event.
