What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
Entering UMD's engineering program with a strong foundation in engineering and a lack of resources from my high school to learn more about engineering, I was overwhelmed by the resources UMD offered and didn't know how to navigate the campus properly. However, talking to ClarkLEADERs by being attending the ClarkLEAD event last year helped me answer so many questions which made my transition to engineering smoother and more confident. I want to give back to UMD by offering incoming freshmens the same help and confidence through becoming a ClarkLEADER!

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering Students?
I would advise new Maryland Engineering students to explore the various engineering opportunities around them on campus, access the resources available to them to be able to succeed in their classes, and ask any questions they may have to staff and upperclassmen students, as many of the emotions they might be feeling are completely relatable and the experienced people around them are more than willing to help!

What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Women in Engineering (WIE); great opportunity for female engineering students to meet each other, make friends, and learn more engineering. Theta Tau; engineering fraternity. Cultural clubs such as Pakistan Student Association, Iran Student Association, Black Student Union, Ethiopian Student Association, etc. are great ways to connect with your culture. UNICEF.

If you attended ClarkLEAD as a first-year student, what did you enjoy most about the event?
I enjoyed having great conversations with fellow freshmen students who were passionate about pursuing engineering and learning about the experiences of upperclassmen students in ENES100, as I was registered for that course for the coming semester; knowing their experiences helped me become more comfortable going into that class.
