Liangbing Hu, MSE Prof at UMD

Liangbing Hu, Herbert Rabin Distinguished Professor in the University of Maryland (UMD) Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and Director of the Center for Materials Innovation - has been elected to the class of 2021 Materials Research Society (MRS) Fellows. Hu is recognized for his pioneering studies in the areas of wood nanotechnologies, ultra-high temperature manufacturing, and for uncovering new materials and methods for energy storage and conversion, printed electronics and wearables.

The title of MRS Fellow honors those members who have made outstanding contributions to the field, including research, leadership and service, thereby advancing the mission of the materials community world-wide. The highly selective distinction is limited to 0.2% of the current MRS regular membership each year and to those with continuous engagement with MRS. Congratulations to Dr. Hu!

Hu is the first scholar from UMD to win this prestigious recognition. J.C. Zhao, MSE Professor and Chair, was named an MRS Fellow for the 2019 class while serving The Ohio State University; he joined UMD in July, 2019.
