July 2025

Dear Engineering Terps,

As a graduate of the A. James Clark School of Engineering and a member of the Engineering Alumni Network, you are part of a vibrant and growing network of over 50,000 innovators, problem solvers, and leaders across industries and around the world. The Engineering Alumni Network exists to keep us connected: to each other, to students, and to the school that helped shape our journeys.

I can personally attest to the impact of such a committed alumni network. I graduated from the Clark School in 2008 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and now work as a Water Resources Engineer at the Center for Watershed Protection, an environmental nonprofit. I became a volunteer of the Engineering Alumni Network board over eight years ago, and since then, some of my most inspiring professional lessons have come from conversations with fellow alumni. From cooking class to volunteering at Alumni Cup, it’s been both meaningful and energizing to learn about all the different paths our alumni have taken and to find new ways to give back to the Clark School community.

As the incoming President of the Engineering Alumni Network, I look forward to supporting its mission of connecting our alumni to one another; empowering Terps at every stage of their professional journeys; and strengthening Terps pride and commitment to our alma mater and its current students, staff, and faculty.

I encourage you to connect, or reconnect, with A. James Clark School of Engineering. Even more, I encourage you to stay involved. Help us engage better with you by updating your contact information online and completing our 2025 Alumni Survey. We are always looking for new voices and fresh ideas to help us better serve our alumni community, celebrate your stories, and create meaningful opportunities for connection. If you are interested in getting more involved, we’d love to have you join us! I invite you to reach out to Ellen Thorpe, our Alumni Engagement Manager, if you would like to learn more.

Together, we can ensure that every Maryland Engineer feels the strength of this incredible alumni community behind them. Let’s continue building a legacy that future generations of Engineering Terps will be proud to inherit.

Go Terps!
