The Clark School Ambassadors are current undergraduate engineering students with a diverse set of experiences at the University of Maryland. They participate in an array of outreach and recruitment activities, including visiting local high schools and hosting prospective students on campus.

Interested in becoming a Clark School Ambassador?  Apply by September 6, 2023!

We are currently recruiting engineering students who graduate on or after May 2024 to become ambassadors for the fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters. 

Applicants must complete the online application.  You will be asked to upload your letter of interest and current resume, so please have those documents prepared before starting the application.  There is also an optional 1-minute video submission where you can discuss what makes you a good candidate for the Clark School Ambassador Program. Be sure to show your Maryland and Clark School Pride in your submission! We suggest uploading to a private YouTube page and copying the link in the appropriate section of the application.

Benefits of being an Ambassador include:

  • Opportunities to develop presentation skills
  • Opportunities to develop leadership skills
  • Chance to impact/serve as a role model to prospective students 
  • Ambassadors who complete the minimum requirements will receive at least a $250 stipend each semester
  • The top three Ambassadors earn up to a $1000 stipend for that semester

The overall expected time commitment will average 12 to 20 hours per semester. Specific activities include:

  • Engineering information sessions
  • Campus recruitment events (e.g.: open house events, Maryland Day, engineering facilities tours, and student shadowing experiences)
  • Off-campus outreach events (e.g.: classroom presentations, science/STEM fairs, and community college visits)
  • Ambassador training sessions (one per semester)
