This virtual program, hosted by current Maryland Engineering students, was initiated through the RISE Program (the Clark School’s Leadership Academy) in partnership with the Women in Engineering Program. This program, geared toward women high school students but open to all high school students, provides an introduction to engineering research. Students will participate in experiments that correspond to different engineering disciplines each day of the week and learn about research labs at the University of Maryland. This program will be conducted virtually, at no cost, and experiments will be at-home friendly! Students will learn how to read and write scientific research papers and will have access to current Maryland Engineering undergraduate students who are involved in research labs.

We are proud to offer this program for FREE to participants.
In order to complete the hands-on activities, participants should plan to gather basic materials that can be found around the home. A materials lists will be sent prior to the start of the program.

Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11:45 p.m.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and admission notifications will be sent on Fridays.
In your application, you will need to include an essay on why you would like to participate in the RISE Research Summer Program and your interest in Maryland Engineering. This is your opportunity to present your experiences, co-curricular activities, and strengths to the selection committee. Please limit your essay to 1 page.
