2021 RISE Research Summer Program (virtual)

Program Overview

This virtual program is hosted by current University of Maryland students through the RISE Program, which is the Clark School’s Leadership Academy, in partnership with the Women in Engineering Program. This research program is an introduction to engineering research and is geared toward female high school students. Students will participate in experiments that correspond to different engineering disciplines each day of the week and learn about research labs at UMD. This program will be conducted virtually, at no cost, and experiments will be at-home friendly! Students will also learn how to read and write scientific research papers and will have access to current UMD undergraduates who are involved in research labs.

Dates: Monday, August 2 - Friday,  August 6, 2021
Time: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., daily

 

We are proud to offer this program for FREE to participants. 

In order to complete the hands-on activities, participants should plan to gather basic materials that can be found around the home.  Materials lists will be sent prior to the start of the program.  

Participation in this virtual program will require:

  • Laptop Computer/Desktop Computer/Tablet
  • Broadband (high-speed) Internet connection with a consistent minimum speed of 1.5 Mbps.
  • A Webcam and/or Microphone for use during live sessions on Zoom.  
  • Access to a web browser on the device.

Upon completion of the registration process, you will be directed to a Consent Form.  A completed Consent Form is required for participation in the program.
