What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
Navigating your first year of college can be difficult for many. I, too, was a first-year student finding my footing on campus and taking advantage of the available resources. The same experience I was grateful for is something I found that I wanted to share with other first-year engineers. Being a ClarkLEADER provides me with the opportunity to help first-year engineering students become familiar with the University of Maryland’s vibrant and innovative campus by answering questions, sharing my experience, and more.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering Students?
Never think the goals and dreams you have for yourself are too big. Yes, you are more than allowed to shoot for the stars, so do just that. When pursuing your goals and facing tribulations, remain driven. Your mistakes do not define you, but shape you into who you are meant to be. Embrace grace and strive for greatness.

What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
The UMD campus is full of many organizations that are geared towards your interests. Do not just branch into your major-related clubs, but join clubs that are hobbies or of interest to you. Some organizations are the Biomedical Engineering Society, African Student Association, Black Engineers Society, and PandemoniUM (Co-ed a cappella group).
