Emergency Funds
Lottie Fradkin Fund (Clark School)
- Established by Janet Berman, these limited funds are used to support emergency grants to students in the Clark School.
- Students must demonstrate their financial need and be in good academic standing.
- Granted to students in extreme and extenuating financial situations, such as unable to afford housing, significant transportation costs, and/or inability to purchase meals/groceries.
- Students should submit the Clark School scholarships application in Scholarship Universe and send an email to Dr. Nicole Roop at nroop@umd.edu in order to be considered for these funds.
Economic Crisis Response Grants (Division of Student Affairs)
- Grants given for immediate need, including housing, food, medical and/or mental health care, transportation, or other emergency.

Student Success Emergency Scholarship Fund (Division of Student Affairs)
- Funds to assist students with unforeseen financial difficulties who cannot pay their past or current semesters tuition bill.

Fostering Terp Success (Office of Family Engagement)
- For students with a history of foster care involvement, are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, and lack a supportive family system
- Email fosteringterpsuccess@umd.edu and a team member will respond to your email.

Food Insecurity:
- UMD Campus Pantry - Their mission is to alleviate food hardship by providing emergency food to UMD students, faculty, and staff in need.
- Little Free Food Pantry - St. Andrew's Episcopal Church (4512 College Avenue, College Park) offers non-perishable food and hygiene items. The box is located beside the church parking lot just off Princeton Avenue.
- College Park Community Food Bank- Through the Church of the Nazarene.
- Hungry Terps Twitter Feed - Find food giveaways, free meals, and other free food on campus.
- UMD's Essential Needs Support and Resources - Basic needs refers to the most essential resources required to be successful as a student at the University of Maryland, including food, housing, and financial stability. The UMD Dean of Students team works to connect students experiencing basic needs challenges with relevant resources.
- FoodPantries.org - Find food pantries in your neighborhood.
Housing Insecurity:
- Educational Resources for Students Experiencing Homelessness - Resources and opportunities to assist students experiencing housing and food insecurity.
- Shelter Diversion and Placement Program - Community Crisis Services, Inc. - Coordinates shelter placements to Prince George’s County shelters and to identify resources to help stay in current living situation before becoming homeless. Individuals seeking shelter should call 1-888-731-0999.
UMD's Mental Health & Well-Being website - A collection of mental health and well-being resources available to our community on a variety of topics, including crisis support, counseling, academics, wellness and connection. We encourage you to bookmark the website for yourself, and share with others.
