A Full-Circle Approach to Empower Engineering Students
In September 2024, we honored our second Early Career Distinguished Alumni class, individuals who represent the best of engineering: working across disciplines, deploying modern technology and techniques, and never quitting when the problems get tough. We are proud to train these engineers at the Clark School.
Beyond providing the foundational skills to create innovations that impact society, we empower engineers to think with business acumen and demonstrate a spirit of public service. Our niche is our full-circle approach:
-
Our curriculum responds to workforce needs. Our AI4All initiative and Vertically Integrated Projects program provide hands-on experience and critical thinking skills to excel in the workplace, and our Capstone Design Expo allows students to create real-world solutions and receive feedback from industry experts. We also recently launched a minor in quantum science and engineering.
-
Programs like xFoundry, Startup Shell, and the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute help engineers become entrepreneurs, and our unique class for first-generation and underrepresented students helps them gain critical employment skills.
-
Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering, which is ranked sixth nationally, is celebrating its 30-year anniversary and alum network of more than 5,000 graduates.
-
Our facilities promote the cross-disciplinary collaboration needed from modern engineers: Stanley R. Zupnik Hall is designed for that purpose.
We are fortunate to have outstanding partnerships with some of the nation’s leading employers: at our Fall 2024 Career & Internship Fair, a record 7,600 students connected with nearly 400 of them over three days. Thanks to these and other efforts, 96 percent of our students are employed or attending graduate schools six months after graduation. We position our students for engineering, business, and public service success.
Sincerely,
Samuel Graham, Jr. (he/him/his)
