What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
I was inspired to become a ClarkLEADER because of the incredible mentors and support systems that helped me thrive when I first arrived at Maryland. I want to help incoming students feel confident, welcomed, and excited about starting their engineering journey.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering Students?
Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there—even when it’s uncomfortable. The opportunities, mentorship, and growth you gain from engaging with your community, taking initiative, and asking for help will shape your entire college experience and open doors you never imagined.

What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Explore the Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering (CMSE), Women in Engineering (WIE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), for these communities offer academic support, mentorship, and career development. For hands-on experience and teamwork, Robotics at Maryland, Terps Racing EV and Terrapin Rocket Team are incredible ways to apply what you learn in class and grow your engineering skills beyond the classroom.

If you attended ClarkLEAD as a first-year student, what did you enjoy most about the event?
What I enjoyed most about ClarkLEAD was mingling with other students and getting to know more people before the semester began.
