What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
UMD is a university that embodies innovation, leadership, and impact, advancing the world in various ways. As someone interested in making a lasting impact on communities around the globe, I sought for a university that could continue to offer me opportunities to do so, as I did in high school, but even more. UMD provided me with this opportunity through its Clark Scholars and College Park Scholars programs. Each program associates itself with impact and innovation for the greater good, and having been offered both programs, I was elated. In addition, as a person passionate about engineering
and medicine, UMD's Bioengineering major in the Clark School broadly implements keystone aspects that make one a well-rounded engineering student, human being, and future working engineer.
Best Experience with a Class or Project
It was my first day of Calculus II, infamously known as the hardest calculus class. As I entered the class, I was greeted kindly by my professor, who consistently reassured us that he was here to truly help us learn Calculus II and had always looked out for his students. To experience a class like this led by a professor who truly cared for both calculus and his students, I felt I learned calculus in a way that has translated to a true understanding of content that I apply in my other engineering courses. I am beyond appreciative for this experience, my professor, and how it has continued to impact me further.

Favorite On-Campus Event
It was my first time at Maryland Day, and I was hosting a booth! Having walked around the event and table at the event was an amazing experience, and I felt that I connected with the Maryland community even more. Seeing the joy and bonding of several communities as one was amazing to see and experience.
Favorite Research or Study Abroad Experiences
As someone who is heavily interested in medicine in addition to engineering, a research experience that I have truly loved is regarding starting the process of the purification of a protein that would later be used as an antibiotic. To begin such a new process of research, but in the manner of fighting against nosocomial infections, I enjoyed seeing the research come to fruition and know that many lives could possibly be impacted positively by this, if the experiment is successful. Furthermore, I truly appreciated building long-lasting relationships with the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry faculty to which they have inspired me to go for more in all aspects of life.
Cool Engineering Experience
The building of an autonomous OTV in ENES100 was a cool engineering experience for me. This keystone course tested one's teamwork, collaborative, innovative, and communication skills. These are vital skills for daily life and especially for engineering life. Outside of the skills gained, this experience was fun as a group of engineers with varying experiences came together to figure out how to overcome a specific challenge. However, we were in that experience together, soaking in every moment like the laughs echoing as we worked on trying to devise a unique solution to our mission.
