Dear Clark School Students,
The Clark School is hosting application information sessions for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP). This award provides 3 years of full support for PhD studies, with an annual stipend of $37,000, in all engineering fields.
The Clark School is hosting two sessions run by Dr. Fancis DuVinage, Director of the National Scholarships Office and Maryland Center for Undergraduate Research. Both sessions will cover the same material.
Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 11am to 12pm in Kim 1107
Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 11am to 12pm in Kim 1107
Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 2:30pm to 3:30pm in Kim 1107
Eligibility: You must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident to apply for the NSF graduate research fellowship. You must be applying for, or enrolled in your 1st or 2nd year of graduate studies in an NSF supported field in Fall 2026. Other eligibility criteria may apply.
These sessions are specifically designed for students applying for the NSF GRFP this fall 2025, and will discuss in depth the two required essays - a 3-page intellectual/personal statement, and a 2-page mini research proposal. We'll cover what information needs to be in the essays, how to address the required intellectual merit and broader impacts statements, as well as strategies for writing the essays in a timely and effective way.
Students attending will also be given access to the UMD National Scholarships Office's ELMS resource site for NSF GRFP applicants.
