What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
I was inspired to become a ClarkLEADER because I wanted to be part of creating a welcoming and supportive environment for new students. When I first joined the Clark School, having a sense of connection made a big impact on my transition. Now, I want to help others feel that same sense of community. By sharing my own experiences and offering guidance, I hope to make their first steps into the engineering program a little smoother and more meaningful.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering Students?
One piece of advice I would give to new Maryland Engineering students is to not be afraid to get involved early and take initiative in building connections. Whether it's joining student organizations, attending events, or simply introducing yourself to someone in your classes, those small steps can lead to meaningful relationships and opportunities. Surrounding yourself with people from different backgrounds will expand your perspective and help you grow both academically and personally. Don’t hesitate to reach out to upperclassmen or professors—they’ve been where you are and can offer guidance and support. Most importantly, be open to new experiences, even if they push you outside of your comfort zone. That’s often where the most valuable learning happens.

What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
While I haven’t officially joined any student organizations yet, I’ve attended several events hosted by different groups and found them to be a great way to connect with other students and learn more about what each organization offers. I’ve also gone to networking events held by Civil departments, where I had the chance to speak with alumni. These experiences have shown me that you don’t need to know everything going in—people understand that you’re still learning, and many are more than willing to share their insights. I encourage new students to explore these opportunities and not be afraid to step outside their comfort zones. Getting involved, even just by showing up to events, is a great first step toward building your network and broadening your perspective.
