What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
During my first year at UMD, I struggled to find my place within such a large university community. This experience made me realize how important it is for new students to feel welcomed and supported from the start. I want to be a ClarkLEADER because I’m passionate about helping incoming students navigate their transition to college life and connect with their peers. Additionally, I believe that academic preparation is crucial for success in engineering, so I’m eager to share insights about core engineering courses and provide guidance that will help students build a strong foundation for their academic journey!
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering Students?
My biggest piece of advice is to actively engage with your classmates and build meaningful connections early on. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself, ask questions, and participate in study groups or class discussions. The relationships you form with your peers will not only make your college experience more enjoyable but will also create a valuable support network that can help you succeed academically and professionally. Engineering can be challenging, but having a strong community of classmates who understand what you’re going through makes all the difference.
What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Society of Women Engineers, Terps Racing, Black Engineers Society, IEEE, and intramural sports!
