What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
My decision to become a ClarkLEADER stems from a deep commitment to mentorship, equity, and fostering a sense of belonging within the Clark Scholars community. As someone who benefited from the support of inspiring upperclassmen, I recognize the profound impact a strong peer connection can have on a student’s confidence and academic journey. I wanted to step into that same role, serving as a guiding voice, a listener, and a cheerleader for first-year Scholars navigating their transition to college. Through my leadership in the Scholars Peer Mentor Program, Club Cheer, and Lakeland STARS tutoring, I’ve learned how powerful it is to advocate for others and help them feel seen and supported. Becoming a ClarkLEADER allows me to give back to the program that’s helps shape so many engineers at university of Maryland.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering Students?
Don't be afraid to ask for help!
What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
I serve as a First-Year Representative for both the Scholars Peer Mentor Program and the Scholars Student Advisory Board, where I advocate for my cohort and actively contribute to building a more connected and inclusive Scholars community. On the University of Maryland Club Cheer Executive Board, I hold the role of Merchandise Chair, managing apparel design and coordinating with vendors to ensure high-quality, affordable gear for members. I also tutor weekly through Lakeland STARS, providing one-on-one academic support to underrepresented and financially struggling students. Additionally, I am an engaged member of the Black Engineers Society, deepening my commitment to diversity and collaboration in the STEM community.
