Innovation Hall of Famer Billig Dies
Frederick S. Billig, Ph.D. '64 mechanical engineering and a past inductee into the Clark School’s Innovation Hall of Fame, passed away on June 2.
Billig held several patents and was co-inventor of the supersonic scramjet engine.
He worked as an aerospace engineer for 31 years at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, retiring in 1996.
Billig was inducted into the Innovation Hall of Fame in 1997 and returned to the Clark School in the fall of 2005 to accept a medallion commemorating his induction.
He is survived by four children, ten grandchildren and two brothers.
