ObjectVideo CEO Delivers Whiting-Turner Lecture

Raul Fernandez, chairman and CEO of ObjectVideo, was the final speaker in this semester's Whiting-Turner Business and Entrepreneurial Lecture Series on May 5.

ObjectVideo is the leading developer of intelligent video surveillance software for physical security applications. Its software uses sophisticated algorithms to teach computers to see. Based in Washington, D.C., ObjectVideo's clients include both government and commercial enterprises.

Mr. Fernandez is well known in the technology industry and the Washington, D.C., area as the founder of Proxicom, which under his leadership evolved into a leading global provider of sophisticated e-business solutions for Fortune 500 companies.

Mr. Fernandez is involved in technology policy. In 2001, he was appointed to the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. He also led the Information Technology Analysis Team for Virginia Gov. Mark Warner's Commission on Efficiency and Effectiveness, which was chaired by former Virginia Gov. Douglas Wilder.

In January 2000, Mr. Fernandez became one of the owners of the NHL's Washington Capitals, the NBA's Washington Wizards, and the MCI Center. A native Washingtonian, Mr. Fernandez received a bachelor's degree in economics in 1990 from the University of Maryland.
