Robert BriskmanRobert Briskman (M.S. '61, electrical engineering [EE]), co-founder of Sirius XM Radio, was inducted into the Clark School's Innovation Hall of Fame for developing key technologies that make efficient satellite radio possible.


Ahn DuongAnh Duong (B.S. '82, chemical engineering), director of the Borders and Maritime Security Division in the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate, was the Clark School's winter 2010 commencement speaker.


AlumniAmr A. Adly (Ph.D. '92, EE) has been appointed as Faculty of Engineering Vice Dean for Undergraduate Studies at Cairo University, Egypt. He also was elected fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.


Radha PoovendranRadha Poovendran (Ph.D. ‘99, EE) has been promoted to full professor by the University of Washington's Department of Electrical Engineering.


AlumniXiaojiang (James) Du (M.S. '02 and Ph.D. '03, EE) was recently promoted to associate professor with tenure at Temple University.


Xiaobo TanXiaobo Tan (M.S. '99 and Ph.D. '02, EE) was recently promoted to associate professor with tenure at Michigan State University.


Zhaoyang WangZhaoyang Wang (Ph.D. ’03, mechanical engineering) has recently achieved tenure as an associate professor at the Catholic University of America.


AlumniHoward C. "Skip" Harclerode II (B.S. '70 and M.S. '71, chemical engineering [ChBE]) became a fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers.


Frank HertschFrank Hertsch (B.S. '69 and M.S. '70, civil engineering) has been appointed to the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission by Gov. Martin O'Malley.


Yan SunYan Lindsay Sun (M.S. '03 and Ph.D. '04, EE) received the Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Social Computing. The title of the paper, co-authored by Yuhong Liu, was "Anomaly detection in feedback-based reputation systems through temporal and correlation analysis."


Quynh NguyenQuynh Nguyen (Ph.D. '03, ChBE), formerly advised by Professor Sheryl Ehrman, was awarded a fellowship to attend the World Nuclear University's 2010 Summer Institute.


Shenqiang RenShenqiang Ren (Ph.D. '09, materials science and engineering), formerly advised by Professor Manfred Wuttig, received a 2009 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad.


Lu JiangAlumna Lu Jiang (Ph.D. '09, biological resources engineering), formerly advised by Fischell Department of Bioengineering professor Yang Tao, has received a Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Ph.D. Students Abroad.


Dennis P. NolanDennis P. Nolan (B.S. '77, fire protection engineering) published Loss Prevention and Safety Control: Terms and Definitions (Taylor and Francis/CRC Press). The second edition of his Handbook of Fire and Explosion Protection Engineering Principles for Oil, Gas, Chemical and Related Facilities (Elsevier) came out in December.


Zoltan SafarZoltan Safar (M.S. '01 and Ph.D. '03, EE) is the new director of the Master in Telecommunications program at the Clark School.
