WIE Run the World! 93 Minute Virtual Movement Challenge

Mon March 1 - Wed March 31 College Park, MD 20742 US

Description

WIE (women in engineering) Run the World!

Share pictures with us using hashtag #WIERunTheWorld.

Join us in March 2021 during Women's History Month to celebrate the many contributions women engineers have made throughout history and their impacts today and in the future! From trailblazers like Katherine Johnson, to Grace Hopper, to Lillian Gilbreth, women engineers have played a significant role in improving society and our everyday lives!

In 2021, astronaut Dr. Jeanette Epps will write the next chapter of engineering history! Dr. Epps, who completed her master’s degree and doctorate in aerospace engineering at the University of Maryland, will be the first African-American woman to join an International Space Station Crew. Dr. Epps is paving the way for other people of color and women who have big dreams!

The International Space Station orbits the earth roughly every 93 minutes. Therefore, during the month of March, we challenge you to 93 minutes of movement to symbolize the space station's circling of the earth. Complete all your activity minutes at one time or during various times throughout the month. Any activity counts — walking, biking, swimming, running, hiking — whatever makes you feel empowered, encouraged, and strong!

Glow-in-the-Dark Performance Tee ($25)

Share your accomplishment and promote the message that WIE Run the World with a glow-in-the-dark performance tee! Available in women's and men's fit, the unique design captures the virtual nature of the event as well as the themes of WIE Run the World, outer space, engineering and technology, and fitness.

This glow-in-the-dark tee is a great way to celebrate your 93 Minute Movement goals while also honoring Women's History Month and celebrating Dr. Jeanette Epps' historic mission to the International Space Station.

3 Complimentary Fitness Classes!
