WHAT: "Mid-Atlantic Girls Collaborative (MAGiC) Kickoff Conference" This event is designed to bring together individuals and organizations that serve girls in formal and informal science, technology, engineering and mathematics education (STEM). Participants will learn about resources to support their activities and how to gain funding to create STEM partnerships to support STEM educational activities.

WHO: Hosted by the Women in Engineering program of the University of Maryland, College Park, A. James Clark School of Engineering and the MAGiC Leadership Team, this event is open to all organizations and individuals interested in the advancement of girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. The event's keynote speaker will be Catherine Didion, senior program officer at the National Academy of Engineering.

MAGiC is part of the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP), a partnership between the Puget Sound Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology, the American Association of University Women and the National Science Foundation. NGCP seeks to broaden the participation of girls and women in all fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education by supporting research, dissemination of research, and extension services in education that will lead to a larger and more diverse domestic science and engineering workforce.
