TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURSHIP

MIPS The Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) program approved 19 new technology development projects worth $4 million. The projects, which team companies with universities across the state, focus on advancing commercially promising technologies into the marketplace. The projects ranged from a salting system for oyster aquaculture to next-generation algorithms for ridesharing services to a magnetic therapy injection to treat hearing loss, among others.

MTACHThe Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (Mtech) and the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship are launching Innovation Fridays, a collection of signature resources now available across the entire campus for entrepreneurs and innovators. Innovation Fridays combines the Dingman Center’s successful Pitch Dingman program with Mtech's broad-reaching Innovation Office Hours and Entrepreneur Office Hours.

UMDThe University of Maryland continues to be one of the nation's top schools for entrepreneurially-minded students. The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine's annual rankings of the top 25 undergraduate and graduate school programs shows UMD has moved up to 14th on the undergraduate list - up from 18th last year. The graduate rankings remain in the top 25 - coming in at 24th this year.

Mtech’s James V. Green, director of entrepreneurship education, will offer the course “Developing Innovative Ideas for Real Companies” as part of UMD’s new Coursera massive open online course (MOOC) offerings.
