Ashish Bagai Ashish Bagai (B.S. ’90, M.S. ’92, and Ph.D. ’95, aerospace engineering [AE]) was inducted into the Clark School’s Innovation Hall of Fame for his work on the Sikorsky X2 demonstrator aircraft.


Veronica DavisVeronica Davis (B.S. '01, civil engineering [CEE]) was honored by the White House as a Transportation Champion of Change.


Dan JaniakDan Janiak (B.S. '04 and Ph.D. '09, materials science and engineering) was awarded a Kauffman Fellowship, which includes admission into an elite, two-year program designed to educate the world's most promising, up-and-coming venture capitalists.


Harish BhaskaranHarish Bhaskaran (M.S. ’02 and Ph.D. ’06, mechanical engineering [ME]) received a Fellowship in Manufacturing awarded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Bhaskaran was among four recipients of £1 million ($1.6 million) to fund innovative manufacturing projects over five years.


Yu-Hsin ChenYu-Hsin Chen (Ph.D. ’11, electrical engineering [EE]), a former doctoral student advised by Professor Howard Milchberg, won the 2012 Marshall N. Rosenbluth Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award from the American Physical Society's Division of Plasma Physics.


David L. VanhoyDavid L. Vanhoy (M.S. '88, AE) received the 2012 Kelly Johnson Award for excellence and outstanding achievement in flight test engineering from the Society of Flight Test Engineers.


Steven AcenbrakSteven Acenbrak (M.S. '88, CEE) was recently designated a Public Works Leadership Fellow by the American Public Works Association.


Keith AllenAE alumni Keith Allen (B.S. '07, pictured) and Kevin Schoonover (B.S. '06) were included on this year's Aviation Week & Space Technology "40 Under Forty" list of "rising stars in the global aerospace and defense industry."


James P. BegleyJames P. Begley (B.S. '96, fire protection engineering) was listed among Consulting-Specifying Engineer's 2012 "40 Under 40."


Farhan GandhiFarhan Gandhi (M.S. ’92 and Ph.D. ’95, AE) joined Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as the Rosalind and John J. Redfern Jr. ’33 Professor of Engineering and a tenured full professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering.


Nikhil KoratkarAE alumnus Nikhil Koratkar (M.S. '98 and Ph.D. '00) was named the John A. Clark and Edward T. Crossan Professor of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.


Jie ChenJie Chen (Ph.D. '98, EE) was promoted to full professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada).


Zhu HanZhu Han (M.S. '99 and Ph.D. '03, EE) received tenure as an associate professor at the University of Houston.


Steven DeCaluweSteven DeCaluwe (Ph.D. ’09, ME) joined the mechanical engineering faculty as assistant professor at the Colorado School of Mines.


Sophoria WestmorelandSophoria Westmoreland (M.S. ’11 and Ph.D. ’12, ME) accepted a position as assistant research professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the U.S. Naval Academy.
