What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
In addition to the benefits of attending my in-state institution, I felt that UMD and the Clark school offered me a lot of academic and extracurricular benefits that other schools didn't. For one, the Clark school offers plenty of resources for engineering students, such as a separate Career center and various educational programs to increase interdisciplinary and hands-on learning opportunities. Also, the structure of the classes is really great at implementing team projects into the curriculum, which I really liked. Finally, the close proximity to DC and the many opportunities to network and find good jobs was a really great reason to come to UMD as well. Overall, UMD offered a lot of great resources for school and a very diverse community.
Best Experience with a Class or Project
One of my favorite class and project experiences came from BMGT190H. This is the first class I had to take for the QUEST program and I have never had a better group project experience than I did in this class. The group I worked with for an innovation project and a consulting project was so hardworking, friendly, intelligent, and collaborative. The class also taught me a lot of useful skills in project management, design, and process improvement that I hope to be able to apply at a job.

Favorite On-Campus Event
My favorite on-campus event is Free Fest right at the start of the year. It's a great event to go to with friends because you can just pick up a ton of free stuff on the mall!
Favorite Research or Study Abroad Experiences
My favorite research experience was during Summer 2021 when I worked as a research assistant at the UMD Radiation Facilities. I got to work on constructing a new detector for the department and spent time learning electronics and mechanical skills. The staff were also really friendly and taught me a lot.
Cool Engineering Experience
My first cool engineering experience of college was doing the truss project in Mechanics 1 a.k.a. ENES102. I loved being able to go to the woodshop and use the tools with my team to build the truss that we designed.
