What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
The fire protection engineering program is what brought me to UMD. Not only that, UMD and the A. James Clark School of Engineering offer an abundant amount of opportunities for its students. Personally, I love the large-school atmosphere and the campus vibes here at UMD.
Best Experience with a Class or Project
One of my favorite projects was the over-the-sand vehicle for ENES100: Intro to Engineering Design Course. It was really interesting and fun to go through the Engineering Design Process and work on our vehicle. I was on the team in charge of coding on Arduino in addition to building a circuit. I am not going to lie, it was very stressful at times, but in the end, I enjoyed working with my teammates and the lessons I learned from it.
Favorite Class In Major
ENFP250: Intro to Life Safety Analysis
Favorite Class Out of Major
PHIL140: Intro to Ethics
Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities
Barbell Club, Boxing Club, Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department, Society of Fire Protection of Engineers.
Favorite On-Campus Event
Maryland Day
Favorite Research or Study Abroad Experiences
I was invited to do research on firefighting tactics and approaches used by different jurisdictions in various U.S. cities.
Cool Engineering Experience
I was part of a non-profit organization where we build fun gym equipment for underfunded schools. This helped build my creativity when designing and building this equipment in addition to giving me satisfaction for helping others.
