Kaitlyn Moore

Class of 2023
Major: Bioengineering
Hometown: Edgewater, MD
High School: South River High School

What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
I decided to attend UMD because of the beautiful campus and vast opportunities to pursue research. There is never a dull moment as there are so many activities to get involved in and new people to meet. Plus, the Clark School facilities and faculty are fantastic!

Best Experience with a Class or Project
My best experience with a class was in ENES100. Although my team did not get to build an OSV as intended, we still learned valuable engineering principles and strengthened our communication and collaboration skills remotely.

Favorite Class In Major
BIOE371: Linear Systems and Ordinary Differential Equations for Bioengineering Applications

Favorite Class Out of Major
CPSG100: College Park Scholars: Science and Global Change First Year Colloquium I

Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities
On campus, I am involved in ASTS (Academic Success and Tutorial Services) as a MATH140 and MATH141 tutor. Additionally, I am a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) and am a former Science and Global Change (SGC) Scholar!

Favorite On-Campus Event
Performances at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center!

Favorite Research or Study Abroad Experiences
My favorite research experience was for my College Park Scholars Practicum Project. Throughout CPSP359S, I studied pharmacogenomics of viruses in order to determine if widespread pharmacogenomic testing could be used to reduce vaccine hesitancy in the event of a pandemic.

Cool Engineering Experience
Over the summer, I was a Camp Counselor for the A. James Clark Experience Engineering Virtual Summer Program!
