What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
I chose to attend UMD primarily because of the highly-ranked Aerospace Engineering program, and the highly-ranked Engineering School. However, I was also drawn in by the research opportunities available to undergrad students, the incredible location convenient for finding local internships and having fun day-trips, and the overall social and engaging atmosphere.
Best Experience with a Class or Project
Taking ENAE283 with Dr. Mary Bowden was amazing. The course material was so fascinating, and Dr. Bowden is an incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and caring professor. We learned about the basics of flight, aerodynamics, and aerospace systems. While some of the concepts could get challenging, Dr. Bowden was able to translate the information in a way that was understandable and engaging!

Favorite On-Campus Event
My favorite on-campus event was definitely the nextnowfest, a free music and art festival organized by students and held at the Clarice. I attended my freshman year and they had a silent disco that was so much fun!

Cool Engineering Experience
Within ENAE100, the curriculum allows first-semester freshman to dabble in research. I personally was placed in a project that allowed me to work within a team to design and test a free-flying body at Mach 6. We learned about the operation of a shock tunnel and were able to observe the aerodynamic behavior of the free-flying body at hyper-speeds.
